In November of 2000 I purchased a house as a handy man special, and have been
doing projects since then. Below are the projects that have been started so far, some finished
some not yet. |
|
The Carport: The carport was enclosed at some point with T1-11 sheets, which were hung up and
down which was easier I'm sure but the siding on the house runs horizontally rather than
vertically. |
|
|
New Siding: Finally 2003 brought the siding project. By this time the old Cedar siding
had really seen better days, as it was cracking, and peeling. Although it did not happen before most of the things
below I am listing it here because the before pictures are located above. |
|
|
Mulch Beds: As you can tell from the picture on the left above there was little landscaping
when I purchased the house, and the landscaping that did exist was falling apart. So, I replaced
the rotten wood retaining wall with a rock retaining wall. I hope to extend this someday across the
whole front yard. In an effort to save the trees in the front and the house from water damage. |
|
|
Bedrooms: The two upstairs bedrooms where not bad except the hardwood floors. The first thing
we did was paint the rooms. The spare room (which is the first set of pictures below) must of had seven layers
of paint. When I pulled the table rail trim off the wall paint came with it, so the entire room had to be scraped.

|
|
Hardwood Floors: Once the rooms were painted and several months later came the task of
refinishing the floors. The first set of pictures below are the master bedroom. I had a picture of the walls and
the window (all the windows in the house had to be replaced as well) before but not the floor.
The second set is a before and after of the spare bedroom, and last is the stairs. The
after picture of the stairs looks bad because the stairs were still wet. |

Rock Wall:2003 brought a lot of changes to the outside of the house. As you can see the yard
has been torn up. This was thanks to the city and it's Wasserman Rd. sewer assessment. Once the connection was made I
asked the plumber to leave a major portion of the dirt at the top of the hill in the front in order to get a jump on the
rock wall. As you can see it spans the whole yard and last I measured was about 52' long and the center will be 4' tall. |
